![]() Cornerstone Forest Products, Wickizer Lumber at the time, was founded in 1950 by Ralph Wickizer with the help of his brother-in-law, William Ord Sr. The original products were mine props and railroad ties. As time went by the focus turned to graded hardwood lumber. Bill Ord Jr. started in 1960 alongside his uncle and father. In 1978 the business was incorporated and Bill Jr and his wife Audrey started to invest immediately. Ten years later Bill took the helm as president and owner of the company. Today the Ord family, Bill, Audrey, and their three children, Bill, Robert, and Becky Sprout, run the business from the same location in northeastern Pennsylvania. Current annual production stands at over six million board feet of green hardwood lumber. With an eye on the next fifty years, Cornerstone continues to modernize and expand. Our most recently completed project involved installation of an HMC lineal positioning carriage with electric setworks, DC drive, Mudata log alignment system, and a 63 inch HMC band headrig. We recently established a Procurement Department and hired a full time Forester. The department staffs' job is to work with landowners to manage their woodlots and with logging contractors to administer successful harvests. Cornerstone Forest Products is excited about the future. We are privileged to be part of an industry that utilizes a natural resource that is completely renewable when properly managed. We are prepared to continue to invest in ways that help us maximize efficiency and recovery, improve the quality of our finished product, and put state-of-the-art tools in the hands of our greatest asset, our employees. |
